“Together, let's do what's best for Grand Junction!”
Grand Junction, it’s been an incredible journey, from 17 years of service as a police officer, to now serving as your Mayor. My background in law enforcement taught me the importance of listening, leading with integrity, and standing up for what’s right. Much of my law enforcement career was spent as a detective, working on everything from financial crimes to homicide cases, and these experiences shaped my commitment to public safety and justice.
I’m also a small business owner with over two decades of hands-on experience in the housing sector right here in the Grand Valley. I’ve seen firsthand the challenges our community faces when it comes to affordability, and I’m committed to finding solutions that work for our community.
Most importantly, I’m a husband to an incredible Grand Valley educator and a proud father of three amazing young women who keep me grounded and motivated every day.
As your Mayor, I take my commitment to you seriously. I’m here to listen, to lead, and to keep pushing forward. Together, let’s keep doing what’s best for Grand Junction.

In March of 2022, Cody retired from the Grand Junction Police Department after nearly 17 years of service to the community. Throughout his law enforcement career, he served as a Patrol Officer, Detective, Street Crimes Unit Officer, SWAT Officer, Defensive & Patrol Tactics Instructor, Corporal, and Field Training Officer. Working alongside the dedicated men and women of the Grand Junction Police Department was a true privilege, and it laid the foundation for his continued public service.
Today, Cody is proud to serve as Mayor of Grand Junction, where he brings that same dedication to transparency, safety, and community-driven leadership to City Hall. His commitment to public service has never wavered, it’s simply grown stronger.
Cody and his wife, Summer, have lived in the same Redlands neighborhood for over 20 years. Married in 1996, they’re the proud parents of three daughters, now 24, 22, and 19, who inspire them daily. Summer is a Grand Valley educator, and all three of their girls are following in her footsteps with a shared passion for teaching and making a difference.

Cody is a volunteer board member for Crime Stoppers of Mesa County and has a leadership role with Grand Valley Resettlement Program – a local nonprofit supporting Afghan refugees making their home in Mesa County. This year Cody also served on the Latino Coalition for Community Leadership’s local planning team for the Transforming Safety House Bill. This team of community leaders from various backgrounds and organizations worked together to direct state funds to some of the most vulnerable populations in Grand Junction.
As Mayor, Cody remains committed to balancing the city’s budget with heart and common sense. He believes every tax dollar should be spent wisely, but always with an understanding for the real-life needs of the people who live here.
Cody understands that housing is one of Grand Junction’s biggest challenges. That’s why he supports smart infill development, neighborhood revitalization, and strategies that make it possible for residents to live affordably in every part of our city.
With a deep background in law enforcement, Cody knows what it takes to keep our city safe. He actively supports initiatives to recruit, retain, and equip police officers and firefighters, ensuring our public safety departments are fully staffed and ready to serve with excellence.
Solving complex issues like homelessness, mental health, and addiction requires teamwork. Cody believes in strong partnerships with nonprofits, regional governments, and community leaders to drive real solutions, not just short-term fixes.
